Background: From Law to Gaming

After initially qualifying as a Solicitor, Sam spent 9 years in recruitment, focusing on sectors like legal, public-sector governance and risk, and finally insurance. But it was the opportunity with S Gaming that allowed Sam to channel his people skills into a new sector and completely different role.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

“My wife and I did the Bloukrans Bridge Bungee Jump on Christmas Day on our honeymoon in 2017, it was the world’s highest bridge bungee at the time, and I hated every minute of it!”

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

“Time travel but backwards only…I regularly wonder what it would be like to spend time/live in different eras”

“The Goonies, I grew up watching it and must have seen it well over 150 times”

 What’s a skill you’d love to learn and why?

“Another language, it would be great to be able to use it whilst travelling and just to have it in your back pocket whenever you need it”

 What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?

“At home with the family, gym first thing followed by a few local activities and an afternoon at home on the couch”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

“New Zealand for a British and Irish Lions tour, having been to Australia on a tour and having been to South Africa a couple of times, NZ would be the pinnacle”

 What’s something quirky or unique about you that most people don’t know?

“This is always a difficult one to answer when you’re just a standard / run of the mill kind of person…nothing unique or quirky unfortunately”

 What’s your favourite thing about working at our company?

“The team and company culture, everybody was very welcoming and is really supportive of the overall business goals”

If you could have pint with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

“Deceased – Rik Mayall, I was close to my brother and uncle growing up so watched a lot of his TV programmes and with his links to Manchester he would be both entertaining and have interesting stories to tell!”

“Alive – Paul Rudd – massive fan of his 00s films and his “cameo” in latter Friends series…he just seems like he’d be a great lad to have a few pints with”
